The Proposal
The surprise proposal started when Patrick’s sister, Bridget, casually mentioned a state park in Arkansas where you can dig for diamonds.
Patrick heard “diamond” and, with help from both families, started plotting.
A Tiek family vacation was planned around a day at Crater of Diamonds State Park, followed by a weekend in Hot Springs. Patrick was being awfully suspicious about the weekend’s itinerary, but Katie didn’t connect the dots. He’d been planning this for months.
After arriving at the park and a few hours of digging, Patrick said he’d found a diamond and dropped to one knee.
When Katie turned around, surrounded by Patrick’s family and the kids watching, she saw her mom, stepdad, and their senior dog, Charlie.
It was a very thoughtful, very cute, very muddy proposal.
Patrick
An early-bird Capricorn and the better cook in the house. Technology-illiterate, but able to fix almost anything. Collects Seiko watches, vintage ashtrays, and Blenko glass. Loves pickleball, binging a new TV show, and really good coffee.
Levi
A warm-hearted Leo with a big imagination and a creative spirit. Loves animals (especially pandas), sushi and ramen, drawing, and, in his own words, “being a gangster.”
Katie
A Gemini with no sense of time, but somehow the one who keeps things organized. Patrick’s personal IT assistant. Loves fun hikes, oldies music and collecting vinyl records, painting, pool days, and being a sports mom.
Benjamin
A “Type A” Virgo, wise beyond his years, with wit for days. The only extrovert among the four of us. Loves baseball, football, and fishing, and is especially skilled at roasting his mom.
